We celebrated the day before since our anniversary was actually last sunday. We just relaxed during the day, worked out together, had us some Jimmy Johns for lunch got ready and went on got pedicures. (Yeah that was my idea) EJ was a great sport in going! haha... I think it takes a real man to get a pedicure. :) The night was in Ege's court where we went to dinner. He surprised me and took me to The Roof in downtown SLC. We had an AMAZING view of the temple. I'd never been to their before and it was so fun to dress up and go out. We don't do that very often! It was a great day and I look forward to and eternity more anniversaries! haha..cheesy I know...but it's true.
There have been several ups and downs in this one year. Not in our relationship, but in other areas of our lives. It's been quite a growing and spiritual experience for both of us. I wanted to share the things that I have learned in this first year of being married:
-Going to the Temple together REGULARLY is important.
-Praying and reading scriptures together daily is a MUST.
-Having FHE even before having kids is an amazing experience and I can really tell when we do have FHE together how much stronger the spirit is in our home.
-Going on dates is important. Even though we don't have a ton of money at the moment, just going to dinner is amazing to me.
-If you don't speak up about what bothers you, the problem will NEVER get fixed and will cause problems later.
-Communicate!
-Let down your pride and apologize...
-I think it's healthy to speak your mind to each other. It lets you both know where you stand. It's good...
That's all I can think of for now. Yes most of them were spiritual things, but you know what people...The foundation of your marriage and what keeps you together is The Gospel of Jesus Christ. Plain and simple. I'm grateful for EJ and all that he does for me. He makes me laugh all the time which I love. He has such drive and motivation to reach his goals. I love you Ege.

I have to say my daughter definately picked a sweetie...and he did too...You are amazing examples for someone who has been married more than 35 years. I agree Heath, communication and the Gospel are essential. Glad you learned that early in your marriage. Love you both!!
